The Philadelphia Flower Show

The Philadelphia Flower Show

By: Ericka Kirk

The annual Philadelphia Flower Show, supported by the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, was a tremendous success this year. Not only did it attract thousands of visitors, but it supports PHS's goal of planting one million trees and other attempts to make the Philadelphia region a more green and environmentally aware place. The show took place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from Sunday, March 4 until Sunday, March 11. Ticket pricing was $25 for adults, $20 for students, and $15 for children.

Each year, the show has a different theme, and this year's was "Springtime in Paris." An array of different floral exhibits truly made people feel like they were walking down the streets of the beautiful French city. There was even a completely floral model of the Eiffel Tower. These exhibits give the designers who created them an opportunity to show off their amazing artistic talents. The show also featured many other attractions including free garderning presentations, dozens of educational displays that explored the newest trends in gardening, a bustling marketplace, and even free wine tastings supported by the PA Wine & Spirits store. All in all, this year's show was another crowdpleaser. People are already anxious for next year's show, whose theme is "Islands of Aloha!"
