The event is being held to raise money for Pediatric Oncology Research at The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Center at Johns Hopkins.

The goal is to raise 4,000 dollars, this will fund two weeks worth of research in the department. In order to participate people are asked to come out in their best Santa attire. From Santa hats, to full suits, and any festive outfit you can dig up, all are acceptable. The only rule is that each participant donates 20 dollars to the head Santa of the event who will be traveling to all the participating bars in the area. More donations are encouraged and greatly appreciated. You must be 21 in order to attend the event because identification will be required at the door; however, I am sure that is a given. The bars that are participating include Murphy's Neighborhood Bar and Grille, Zen West, Jerry's Belvedere Tavern, Swallow at the Hollow, Crush, Grand Cru, and Ryan's Daughter.

All are invited to come to Ryan's Daughter at 10 pm for a group photo. According to the facebook event, 241 people are planning to attend with many Loyola students giving their support. According to Johns Hopkins: every day, 1 in 330 people are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 20. Because of research today 78% of those child patients will survive. It is up to our generosity to help develop research to find a cure. I am sure every one of us have a loved one who has been diagnosed and we are always wanting to help in some way. What better way to send our support than sharing a few drinks with friends and family during the holiday season? It is such an easy and fun event to participate in. However, don't worry if you can't make it. For those who are missing out donations are welcomed and greatly appreciated. Checks can be made out to SKCCC Pediatric Oncology. Just 50 dollars can fund an hour of research, that can be raised if you and just two friends attend. Every little bit counts. The event begins at 6 pm and goes until 10 pm.
