Welcome to the Loyola Pound

Welcome to the Loyola Pound, a new website for the Loyola community by Loyola students.
by Kristine Boise
Who's behind the Pound?
We are the eleven students involved in the Spring 2009 session of Loyola’s Digital Media Seminar class. What does that mean? We are eleven talented and dedicated students who are enthusiastic about web design, graphics, animation, audio and video production. Most of us are getting ready to graduate this upcoming May with a Communications degree and specialization in Digital Media; this website gave us a chance to showcase our talents as well as pick up some new skills that will help us once we enter the post-college world.
What is this site?
Sure Blackboard is great for keeping up with the latest student polls, teacher assignments and email rosters but where is the fun in that? The Pound is a new Loyola website that caters to the social aspect of a student’s life on campus. The site features where to eat within walking distance of the school, updates from the Greyhound newspaper, Baltimore weather, a calendar of upcoming events and more. This website is the culmination of a semester’s worth of website development and four years worth of Digital Media knowledge. Each student brought his or her own strengths to the site and different groups worked on content, design and development.
Why "the Pound?"
For the last three months we have been talking to a lot of people about what type of site could best meet the needs of the Loyola Community, and especially Loyola students. Check out some of the research we did that lead us to design the Pound as you see it today.
