Will 3D be the Only Option Soon?

Since Avatar, How to Train Your Dragon and Clash of the Titans, and Alice in Wonderland have been released in 3D.  Some following titles to be released in 3D this upcoming year are: Shrek Forever After, Obermind, Kung-Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, and Pirahna.  Are we eventually going to only have the choice of experiencing movies in 3D?  Not only are studios making new movies in 3D, they are also releasing past movies.  Pixar studios released both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in digital 3D last year to help boost excitement for the upcoming third installment of the series.

“I don’t see the point in everything being 3D. I mean sure Avatar was cool, but I had a splitting headache from the glasses afterward.  I don’t want every single one of my movie experiences to have to end with a headache just because the new trend is 3D.” said sophomore Alex Brodbeck.  Some theaters do offer  movies in both 2D  and 3D but most smaller theaters only choose to show the 3D because that can only afford to show the new trend.

"I am personally very excited that everything is now 3D.  If I can ever afford it, I can't wait to buy the new 3D television.  I think it will be great to watch all the sports games on." said sopohmore Aaron Remson.  "Hopefully the technology will eventually expand to our computers too."

But does anyone really want to sit in their living room with 3D glasses on every time they want to watch television.  We live our whole lives in 3D, should we not just be able to enjoy a break from it and enjoy our television, movie, and computer screens in good old 2D?  Hopefully this sudden rush will just be a fad, and we can continue a fair balance between 3D and 2D entertainment.
