Live Music in Baltimore!
Written by Samantha Antonucci
Baltimore's music scene is not one that should be over looked, as it seems to be by many students in this area. Even though Baltimore is not famous for its music, it is still a large part of the culture here. Baltimore has a variety of music venues where A-list stars and local bands both perform. Such places as the Rams Head Live, Sonar, The 8x10, and First Mariner Arena cater to the inner music fanatic in everyone.
Over the years Baltimore has played host to many famous names such as Drake, Citizen Cope, Beyonce, and Carrie Underwood. Hanson, performed at Sonar this past weekend, and well as Carrie Underwood, yesterday. This month Linkin Park will be performing, and in December Usher and Trey Songs bring their OMG tour to the First Mariner Arena.
Besides all this great A-list names that will be preforming right in the Baltimore area, there are many local clubs and venues that play host to a great local music scene. Loyola's very own A Cool Stick has performed at the famous 8x10 club over the years and are performing, as part of the License to Ill tour, in December at Sonar. Tonight, at Sonar Airwalk presents the AP Tour featuring Polar Bear Club and Bring Me the Horizon and August Burns Red.
Likewise, DJ Gregg Gillis better known as Girl Talk released his new album online yesterday for free download. The album titled "All Day" features remixes that include artists such as Lady Gaga, Willow Smith, and Neil Diamond. Girl Talk performed at Loyola back in 2009 and will be back this January to perform at the Rams Head Live, as part of his 40-city tour.
Most of these concerts, even at the local clubs are all ages, and the tickets are fairly inexpensive. Experiencing the music that Baltimore has to offer is a great way to expereince Baltimore culture. Tickets to all concerts are available at www.ticketmaster.com, www.sonarbaltimore.com , www.the8x10.com , www.ramsheadlive.com.
