The reason I chose to do this video is because of the upcomming presidential elections. I am studying economics and political science amd so the 2012 election is both exciting and interesting to me. I wanted to make a video on critical elections which are explained by Dr. Harris in the interview. Political scientists often argue not only about what last electionwas the last critical election but whether or not the next one will be. The video is aimed at giving a very basic analysis of critical or realining elections and leaves the viewer to take that information and decide whether or not he or she thinks that this upcomming election has the makings of a critical election.
Dr. Harris has taught at least 3 of my classes here and often discusses the idea of critical elections. The video is meant to be a small sample of political thought and theory and their applications to upcomming political events. As supplements to the interview of Dr. Harris I suggest the following videos to get a better sense of the context of the historical events he references:
