My Story-Kirven
By : Aubrey Kirven
For my My Story project I decided to chose the topic of volleyball. I have a deep passion for volleyball and I play on the Loyola Women's team here at Loyola. My roommate/teammate, Katie Dircks was willing to contribute to my video. She is a very good player and I look up to her very much both on and off the court. I thought that she would be a perfect interview for this project. She had to overcome some obstacles throughout this season and has made a tremendous recovery. We both are going to be Juniors here at Loyola and have been roommates since freshman year. We both have went through the same journey. Volleyball is important to me because I have come over six hours away from home to play here at Loyola. I would never be here and I wouldn't have met any of these people if it wasn't for volleyball bringing me here. I am trying to let people know what it is like being a division one athlete while being a student. I want to communicate the ups and downs that we have to go through. I thought by having Katie share her story and asking her about her experience here it would let people know who are not athletes know what it is like.

For my video I interviewed Katie Dircks. I took footage from a few of our games and used her talking as a voiceover. I added in some graphics as well. I asked Katie about her experience here at Loyola, what it is like to be a division one athlete, the memories she will take away from this experience, the obstacles she had to overcome, etc. If you would like to read more on Loyola Women's Volleyball or Katie Dircks just go to these websites:
