Twitter, the new newspaper

Twitter has recently emerged as a new outlet for journalism, a place where news can be spread very quickly around the world. But is Twitter a form of journalism?
Twitter is just a way for news and journalism to be released to the people, just like a newspaper or television. Twitter simply acts as a mode in which news and journalism is moved around.
Because there have been many issues with verification I don’t believe that Twitter can be a reliable source for quality journalism, but it is the fastest. Often times people choose speed over accuracy when it comes to news, however dangerous that may be. In situations such as this Twitter is the most effective. One may not know where their information comes from but they are getting it first. That is what matters to people these days.
So I do not consider Twitter journalism, I just consider it a way for news to be spread.
