Eagles Soar Over Giants

By Michael Valenti

The Eagles took soul possesion of first place in the NFC Easter Division with a 45-38 win in the Meadowlands over the New York Giants. The Eagles struck quickly in the first quarter,  with a Brandon Jacobs fumble and return back for a touchdown by Eagles' corner Sheldon Brown, the score was 14-0 after just five minutes. The Meadowlands' was in complete shock, more then it has been all year for the struggling Giants.

In their win, the Eagles were able to complete some milestones. Deshawn Jackson became the third player in NFL history to have eight touchdowns of 50 or more yards in a single season. He has a legitimate shot to break that record with three games left on the Eagles schedule. Sheldon Brown's interception gave him five for the season. Brown and corner Asante Samuel became the first two Eagle corners to have a combined 12 interceptions in a season since the days of the great Eric Allen.

With their huge win on sunday night, The Eagles putthemselves on top with a 9-4 record. The "Young Guns" of the Eagles are playing a huge role and as we saw against the Giants, the Eagles can score in seconds. They also finally figured out a way to utilize Michael Vick who has scored touchdowns in consecutive games for the first time this season. The only thing the Eagles are missing in the Coach Andy Reid and quarterback Donovan McNabb error, is a superbowl ring.

I think this year the Eagles have a swagger earlier then in previous seasons which could propel them into a championship game. McNabb has always asked for weapons on offense and he finally has them. For the Eagles to make a run at the title I think they might need to sure up the defense, who in a wind gave up over 500 yards of total offense. For now the Eagles are clicking on all cylinders and soaring high over it opposing enemies.
