Unity Forum
By Ashley Twaddell- Staff
Just two short years ago, with the infamous presidential election taking place, something else began to take place on Loyola's campus as well. Bias. Due to the highly contrasting political nominees, the focus turned from their policies to the prejudices of each. These trickled down to discussions among students and quickly turned into "witty" comments to defend or promote political views. The result was a burgeoning case of bias incidents all across campus in all forms that have continued even up until now. To react to these events and to educate students on what bias is and how to prevent it, a pledge was made called the Unity Pledge. The idea behind this was to unite all community members under one ideal, accepting differences. The year 2010 brings us to a series of forums designed to address who these events happen to, how we understand them and furthermore what we can do to stop them from happening in the future. Below is the video created in 2009 that kicked off this spirit. Then following it is the information regarding when and where the first Unity Forum (There's more to me than you see) will take place. On behalf of the Loyolapound, we hope to see your faces.
