Humanities Symposium Poster Contest

Humanities Symposium Poster Contest Returns! Submit by November 30th!
After a brief hiatus, the Loyola Humanities Symposium has returned, with History professor Steven Hughes as director. The Symposium text this year is Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein.Humanities instructors (including Communication) are invited to incorporate discussion of this novel into their 11SP classes as a way to celebrate the humanities disciplines. Humanities Symposium Week will be March 14-18, 2011 (the week after Spring Break).
The students of Communication and Fine Arts have received a special invitation to submit to a Humanities Symposium Poster Design Contest. I encourage our Communication Majors and Minors to submit entries:
• Full color, maximum poster size: 20” x 30” (landscape or portrait), resolution 300 dpi minimum
• All original artwork and/or photograph (NO borrowed images)
• Think about the literary, historical, political, psychological, and ethical implications of the Symposium text, Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein.
• Chosen artwork will be used for various media including a professionally printed poster and web documents.
• Entries due no later than November 30, 2010. Contact Communication Prof. Russell Cook about submission procedure.
• The Humanities Symposium will announce the contest winners in spring 2011— FIRST PRIZE $300, SECOND PRIZE $100
