Web Design Pages-Good vs. Bad
By Johanna Murphy
A good web design site is from the graphic designer Douglas Menezes because it provides very striking and vibrant visuals as well as very interactive and engaging material. The main page features interactive blogs that the viewer can comment on and therefor engage with the artist. The site also features links to the authors digital portfolio with slides of his various works. It features a biography and a way to contact him with an interesting flash graphic that appears with his email address. The page also contains a link to his twitter page and the option to follow his twitter feed.
An example to a bad graphic design page is the page for a camp called Lake Greeley which features jumbled information and is not very interactive or interesting. All though the page design does feature a lot of informational content it really doesn't strike me as memorable or interesting. The main page features a basic menu bar with various topics of content regarding attending the camp/ registration etc. There is no interactive media such as a link to a camper forum or any feedback which might be interesting. There is only one video available on the sight, and to have videos (even camper made) would be a highly valuable marketing tool. Overall I think the design quality is poor and could use improvement.
