In the Vicinity: The shops on Cold Spring Lane

The Inner Harbor may be a great spot for dinner, but sometimes, it’s just not worth the long wait or effort to get down there. Just right up the street from Loyola University is the school’s “college town” – so why not save that cab fare, grab a couple of friends, and walk up Cold Spring Lane to enjoy the street’s quaint shops and restaurants.

Make your way to the Evergreen Cafe, a popular coffee shop that offers comfy couches and also free WiFi, making it a haven for students during finals week. Alonso’s boasts traditional American fare, sharing an interchangeable menu (and a building) with Loco Hombre, which adds Mexican food to its menu. S’ghetti Eddie’s specializes in good, affordable Italian food. The newly opened Roland Park Bagel Company is a great place to go for a quick Panini or savory bagel with cream cheese. And then, of course, there is Miss Shirley’s, the wildly popular restaurant that has people eagerly waiting up to one (even two!) hour in line for a delicious brunch that is well worth the wait. Why travel far when you have these great options right up the street?

From Charles Street, head west on Cold Spring Lane.
